March 21 - News from Interhash: I ran into LuvBug69 and CumOnDown last night at the hash venue, rockin out to a very good local band. they told me that Extra Creamy might be over here somewhere, but I haven't found him yet.
first official event trail is today - Oz shiggy and a swimming hole is promised. the beer is true Southern Hemisphere piss, but the wine makes up for it!
March 27 - Well, Interhash is now over. We ran two very good trails, one through hilly bush country under Eucalyptus trees - saw some wild kangaroos running away through the trees! Ended at waterhole as promised, a welcome refresh after an 9.5km trail (they told us 6-8).
Sunday trail was 6km through "suburban bush" - the strips of bush that run between the developments - Euc trees, high grass, warnings of poisonous snakes, lots of birds (including white and green parrots). Ended at the beach for body-surfing in the Indian Ocean.
Interhash Pros - organization was good, busses were on time, runs were fun, circles were fun (but a bit long by our standards). The wine was great!
Interhash Cons - transport from the airport was f&cked - 2 hrs to get to my hotel, air port 35km from the city. Food was monotonous - beefsteak and pork sausages with fried onions for EVERY meal - lunch, dinner, and at circle. Beer was monotonous - all watery lagers, had to pay through the nose at the pubs for a good IPA or stout.
Bob Coyne and I are now N of Perth in Exmouth for diving - first day we snorkeled with two juvenile Whale Sharks (3-4m long). Yesterday Cyclone Poncho hit us with flooding rains and high winds, cancelled everything, flooded the hotel grounds (water lapping at our room threshhold at one point. High winds today, little rain, but still cancelled the dive trip. Looking at our options for getting out early if weather permits.
